Teks Naratif ( Narative ) adalah teks yang berisikan tentang cerita imajinasi atau dongeng dan bertujuan untuk menghibur
Goal / Purpose of Text :
To entertain or amuse the reader
Generic Structure
- Orientation sets the scene and intruduces the participants ( characters ) of the story, the time and place where the story happened ( who, what, when and where )
- Complication a crises, A series of events in which the main character attempts to solve the problem
- Resolution the crises is resolved for better or worse
- Re - orienation it is optional the ending of the story it sometimes contains the solution.

Language Features :
- A narrative focus on specific participants
- There are many action verbs, verbal and mental processes
- Direct and indirect speeches are often used
- It usually uses past Tense
- Linking word are used, related with time
- Sometimes the tense in some dialogs can change
- Descriptive language is used to create listener's or readers imagination
- Temporal conjunctions are also used.
A long time ago, a child was born to a queen and king and he was called Snow White. When the queen died, the king was married again, This new queen was wicked and hated Snow white. The queen gave orders that Snow White grew up very beautiful, and one day a prince riding by saw her at work and fell in love with her. " The queen was beautiful too, and every day she asked her magic, Mirror " Who is the fairest in the land ?, and the mirror always answered, " You are the fairest one of all.
One daya, the mirror answered Snow White was the fairest in the land, and in a range the queen gave orders to one of her Huntsman to take Show White into the woods and kill her.
The Huntsman had a kind heart and couldn't do the deed, so he tod snow white to run away. She fled into the woods. Where seven little dwarfs live in a small and strange house.

Jenis - jenis Naratif
- Folktale ( cerita rakyat ) adalah salah satu jenis teks yang bermula dari penyampaian mulut kemulut tentang dongeng atau cerita rakyat yang berjenis folktale, antara lain cerita Bawang Merah dan Bawang Putih, dan cerita Malin Kundang.
- Legend ( legenda ) adalah salah satu jenis teks prosa rakyat yang di anggap oleh banyak orang sebagai sesuatu yang benar - benar terjadi , ' Oleh karena itu, Legenda sering kali di anggap sebagai " Sejarah kolektif. Contoh cerita legenda adalah legenda Sangkuriang dan legenda Candi Prambanan
- Myth ( mitos ) adalah salah satu jenis teks naratif yang tokohnya adalah para dewa atau mahkluk setengah dewa yang terjadi di dunia lain pada masa lampau. Mitos pada umunya menceritakan tentang terciptanya alam. Contohnya adalah cerita Nyai Roro Kidul ( Ratu Laut Selatan )
- Fable ( fabel ) adalah salah satu teks naratif yang menggunakan hewan sebagai tokoh utamanya. Contohnya adalah cerita si Kancil
- Short Story ( Cerita Pendek ) adalah bentuk teks naratif yang bersifat fiktif dan merupakan bentuk teks naratif yang paling mudah di temukan Contohnya adalah The Frog Prince dan Rapunzel

The firth boy, whose name was Tolly, had not turned up, His absence did not greatly surprise the others. they knew that his mother did not want him to come on this expedition into the forest. Charles, who was the oldest, waded downstream to the place where theier boat was tied up in the shelter of some hanging bushes then, he rowed the boat back to the shallow water near the bridge, where the boys loaded it with the provisions, blankets and other things which they were taking on their journey.
Dawn was just breaking as they climbed into their boat and pushed off from the bank, there was no need to row. They took a tirn to keep the boat in the center of the river. Three hours later they entered the forest where they intended to spend the next few days, " lets go ashore now and make some tea, " suggested Charles. No one will see us here, " it was forbidden to light fires in the forest, but people rarely came this ways while Charles tied the boat up, the other three boys, Harry's, Bill and Erick, set about gathering wood for a fire. When they came back, each with a large handful of sticks, they found Charlies looking very worried. " We haven't got any matches, " he announced gloomily, " Tolly was going to bring them, " This was bad news, They were miles away now from the nearest shop.
