All about Mammals

        Mammals are animals that have hair, are warm- blooded and nourish their young with milk. Some modern - day mammals include human, apes, cats, bats, dogs, tigers, mice, mouse, aardvarks, beavers, elephants, gorillas, sloth, pandas, hamsters, hourse, whales, and dolphins.


       There are three types of mammals, monotremes, marsupials, and placental Monotremes are primitive egg - laying mammals Modern day monotromes include the include the echidnas ( spiny ant - eaters ) and the duck - billed platypus. Marsupials are another group of mammals . Their young are born in an extremely immature state 
       Most female marsupials have puuches. Some marsupials include the koala, kangoroo, and the numbat. Placental mammals are mammals whose young are born at relatively advanced through a placenta. The placenta is a specialized embryonic organ that is attached the mother's uterus and delivers oxygen and nutrients to the young. Most mammals are placental mammals, like cats, dogs, horses and humans.
       Mammals have to eat a lot  to maintain their high body temperature. Diets vary from genus to genus. There are four types of mammalian diets' herbivores, ( plant eaters ), Carnivores ( meat eaters ), Omnivores ( eat plant and meat ) and Insectivores ( eat insects )
